The year leading up to a wedding can be one of the best times of your life but it’s also one of the most stressful. Hoping I can check one item off of your to-do list, I’ve rounded up some of my makeup dos and don’ts for an engagement photoshoot:
DO
Use a primer
A primer will not only help your makeup last longer but also blur out imperfections and fill in pores. Creating a smooth canvas before applying foundation will help hide unwanted texture.
Apply your makeup in natural light
The lighting in your bathroom is a lot more forgiving than natural light so grab a mirror and sit by the window when you apply your makeup for flawless results.
Accentuate your features
It’s important to distinguish the features on your face even if it’s not a part of your normal makeup routine. Fill in your eyebrows, define your lash line, wear a lipstick and give your cheeks some color. If it looks a bit too dramatic in real life, it will look just right on camera.
Bring it with you
Pack a touch-up kit with some blotting paper, powder and lipstick to stay looking fresh throughout the entire shoot.
DON’T
Forget your neck
After applying foundation all over your face, be sure to blend it down your neck to avoid harsh lines. The same holds true with bronzers; your neck color should match your face color.
Wing it
Whether you’ve decided to hire someone or do it yourself, it’s important to have a trial run to practice the look. After the trial, take some selfies to make sure you like how the makeup translates through the camera.
Be un-kissable
There will probably be a lot of smooching with you and your honey so don’t chose a high-maintenance lip color. Go with a shade close to your natural “just-bitten” lip color and choose something that is long-lasting and doesn’t transfer easily such as a lip stain.
