LIBBY & NICK | RICHMOND, VIRGINIA ENGAGEMENT

Every wedding I that I get chosen to shoot is the greatest thing ever… that sounds trite… but I’m SERIOUS! My JOB is something that I love so much and when I am chosen to photograph my couples… I melt into a puddle of gratitude… okay, I digress. The thing about Libby and Nick’s wedding is that Libby is a photographer herself! I met her in 2015 when we both attended the Spring Katelyn James Workshop Experience… if you click on that link you’ll see Libby in my post! (she’s in the hot pink shirt!) The workshop was one of those life-changing experiences that I can pinpoint the moment in my photography business where I realized… “I want to do this as my full-time job.”

Anyways… a few months ago, Libby reached out to me to photograph her wedding! W H A T?! Such an honor to photograph another photographers wedding – I’m so excited! This is the celebration of two families who are coming together as one! I had such a  fun time photographing the kids at their Richmond engagement session! I’ve always liked kids… I grew up on a street FULL of kids, I babysat from age 12 through college, and have a big family… and I love kids at wedding – they crack me up!

I met up with Libby and Nick and we walked across the pedestrian bridge over to Belle Isle (probably the windiest day ever…). The kids were great!! until… meltdown hour and they were “doneeee.” Haha! But they did a really good job “cheesing” for me! I followed Libby and Nick back to Nick’s house and just the “adults” walked around the block, chasing the sun, for some golden hour portraits! It’s amazing how every corner in Richmond is so photogenic! We found the light pouring down Grove Avenue and found some really pretty front gardens to stand next to!

I’ll see this Peterson Party of 5 in just a few weeks to photograph their wedding at the Quirk Hotel in Richmond! So excited!! But for now, check out some of my favorites from their Richmond engagement!
