After hours and hours, literally… actually days. I’ve finally gone through all of my favorite details of 2017 weddings! Being a Virginia wedding photographer (well, Virgina + the world) means thousands and thousands of photos to sort through. If I would have been smart, I would have kept a little folder on my desktop to save those said images as I shot weddings throughout the year instead of having to go through 21 folders of weddings individually. Again, that would have been smart. Here’s to a goal for next year. Let’s get going! Today, I’m sharing pretty ring shots, florals, invitation suites, shoes, and all those things that make each wedding have flair. Sure, every wedding has florals, but they differ in color, size, shape and then there’s unique family heirlooms like grandmothers’ handkerchiefs, diamond earrings, and special something blues… keep scrolling for those and more!
Probably the cutest ring dish ever, #AmIRight? BOXWOODS IN THE BOUQUET. I REPEAT, BOXWOODS. IN. THE. BOUQUET!!!! Copper. Geometric. DELICIOUS cake – I say that from experience! Love the personalized Moscow Mule mugs at the sweetheart table and Morgan and Steve’s college flag!
One of my favorite bouquets of 2017! It’s not very often that I get to photograph bright bouquets! I loved the pink and coral hues! Courtney Inghram Floral Design knows whats up! Libby wore a two-piece BHLDN set! Love the lacy top and blush tulle skirt! The Quirk Hotel is so photogenic! Tall white ceilings and the iconic pink couches make it fun and bright! If I can, I love photographing the rings on written vows or love notes because it makes it THAT much more personal!
OMG over this brunch wedding reception design by A Beyoutiful Fete Events & Design! Guys. Those are edible SUGAR flowers! Way to go Catherine George Cakes!
Katie’s blooms POPPED against the neutral tone dresses for this June wedding!
See… another gorgeous pair of Badgley Mischkas. Check out that scalloped pattern on the heal!
RACHEL & DEX | RIVERSIDE ON THE POTOMAC | LEESBURG, VA
Tons of sparkle, blush, and gold for Rachel’s wedding details!
Dex wore his grandfather’s ring! Loved their touch of JMU on their wedding cake! So cute! Rachel and Dex rented Barnes Farmhouse Tables for their rustic reception. Rachel’s aunts (my aunts too!) decorated the table designed and put together the floral arrangements for every table!Â
OMG! My photo is on a cufflink!!!!
How pretty is this ombre cake!? On each table, Natalie and Andrew had a photo from their engagement session! Love seeing my work used on a wedding day! GUYS! How cool is this?! Both Andrew and Natalie were in their college band. They put my photos on drums for their guests to sign!!! The coolest thing! I loved their bright florals in mercury glass vases and the touch of blue in their dinner napkins!
LESLIE & KEVIN | RESTON HYATT | RESTON, VA
Holy moly details! I loved Leslie’s silver and blue bridal details! From the sparkly belt to her glittery shoes and pretty pearl bracelet! One of my favorite ring shots! And… you can see me in the reflection of Kevin’s ring haha Fun fact! Kevin’s Mom made homemade Limoncello as favors!
Jessica wore her grandmother’s pearls and… you guesses it a pair of Badgley Mischka heals!
I think my favorite touch were the initials inside Adam’s wedding band. Adam’s dad passed away and Adam exchanged vows with Rachel with his father’s ring. Engraved were his dad’s initials to marry his mom and then Rachel’s initials and his. Guys gotta have style too! Digging this classic ballroom with pretty greens and gold details! I loved the greenery with pops of gold and geometric shapes!
Talk about texture in this beautiful bouquet! As you guys know already, I love writing letters so I loved how the table numbers were stuffed inside of envelopes! Meredith did the beautiful calligraphy, too! Such a cute favor idea! Their favorite tea and coffee!
Elizabeth’s engagement ring was a combo of family diamonds and some new. I love the custom design that she and Will created! The benefit to photographing bridal details at parents houses is finding treasures this this silver tray! Elizabeth is obsessed with family, tradition, and heritage and I loved getting to include this family heirloom! One of the coolest details was having three generations of family wedding invitations! Elizabeth had her grandmothers, her moms, and, of course, hers! Cheers to this champagne bar!
All about this custom bar with antique glassware that Elizabeth collected from all sorts of estate sales!
LOVED Meg’s shoes!!! All about that cake table! Look at all those cupcakes!!
I loved using the lace of Danni’s dress into all her detail shots! Did you know that Badgley Mischka makes shoes? (Hahaha) Heart eyes for Danni’s diamonds!
Blush and mint and gold! I love Kelly’s ring! Rose gold details on Sanders and Kelly’s save the date!
Fun fact (if you don’t remember from their blog post!): Kelly’s sister handmade Kelly’s dress and her own dress (gold dress!) – #goals. I wish I would have snagged a slice of that red velvet! These florals and candles say garden romance to me!!!
Another classic ring shot on the invitation suite! I love getting to include the location in the detail shot! Pretty flowers on every table!
Loving gals who use family heirlooms for their engagement rings! Emilie used a family setting with a brand new gorgeous diamond in the middle!
All kinds of something blue! I was such a huge fan of Emilie’s bridal bouquet! Succulents! Lookin’ good Brian!
All about this color combo! Sock game strong.
This ring shot reminded me of a starry sky!
I liked this custom design that Sarah and James had made from Emily Kathryn Designs! They used it throughout their wedding details! – save the dates, goody bag tags, welcome sign, and koozies! That’s some cake table!!
To conclude this massively long post… I did a few fun collages! It was fun to see the overall “trends” of the year – lots of blue bridesmaids dresses, Badgley Mischka shoes, and neutral florals.
All the brides whose signature color was a shade of green! All these shades of blue! Pinks, neutrals, purples! and raspberry and cherry! Now, onto bride bouquets! All my gals that included pops of color!
That concludes the most epic wedding details blog post to date! Tell me your favorites in the comments below!! Stay tuned for a recap of 2017 bride and groom portraits coming soon!!
