MEGAN & JARED | SULLIVAN’S ISLAND ENGAGEMENT SESSIONBefore you keep scrolling to check out these totally cute Sullivan’s Island engagement photos, you need to hear about how Megan and Jared met! OKAY. This is one gets filed into the “everything happens for a reason” or “is this real life?!” handbook. Megan and Jared met a few years ago at the airport. Megan was working (teaching) in Maui and Jared was stationed in Oahu (Navy). They were both flying home to DC for the holidays and they met on the plane! Jared explained to me that usually he would catch a different flight from Oahu to CA (or some other major city) but this time he happened to book a flight that took a tiny island hopper then flew out of Maui instead. Of all the times to fly, it was THAT trip that brought them together!
Megan and Jared sat next to each other on the flight and got to talking. Once they made it to Denver for their first layover, they missed their connecting flight. After getting a new flight, they finally made it to Houston where, again, missed their flight to DC. So after nearly 24 hours together they made it back to DC and went separate ways, but not before Jared asked for Megan’s number. Jared told me he tried calling and texting her over their two weeks in DC, but she ignored him! He even invited her to a hockey game and she turned him down! They didn’t reconnect until they were both back in HI!!
Megan said she was a little nervous at first to reconnect but they texted all the timeeee and eventually met up for their first date and started dating shortly after! They lived on separate islands for 2 years, island hopping back and forth between Oahu and Maui to see each other. Once Jared got a new assignment in Charleston, the pair had a month before the move and instead of packing, decided to squeeze in a month long trip to Italy, the Seychelles, and Uganda (talk about all over the place!!!).
After visiting Italy with Megan’s family, Megan and Jared split off to the Seychelles “in the middle of nowhere” in the Indian Ocean. One night after dinner, Jared suggested going on a walk on the beach but Megan just wanted to go back to their room to hit up the super cool infinity pool but Jared was insistent. Shortly after getting onto the beach, Jared knelt down and proposed with a beautiful ring he designed himself! Megan told me all she could say was “omg is this real? is this really happening?!” With super spotty cell service, Megan and Jared called their loved ones. The two contemplated having a destination wedding in Hawaii but decided upon getting married in Bethany Beach where Megan’s family has vacationed for years.

Sun, sand, barefoot, and bikes!
Megan told me she had “a vision with bikes on the beach.” It was a great vision!

**Probably thinking: why did we let Brett convince us to take photos before having breakfast or coffee??**
The cutest!

Me: How do you feel about a piggy back?
Preshhhhh
Peep someone else’s dog. Megan LOVES dogs but we left their dog, Koko, at home because she said he would have run off and been extremely hard to round up later sooooo we compromised and said we’ll take photos with Koko at the beach at their wedding when someone can stand guard!

We didn’t leave the house before sunrise mainly because we were all extremely tired, BUT, we did hop on the beach before breakfast and had it pretty much all to ourselves!
Time for an outfit change, so here are some facts about Megan & Jared! When they’re not working, you can find them enjoying the beach, surfing, walks with their dog, Koko, and traveling! Jared enjoys ice hockey, a good IPA, and Taylor Swift (we talked allllll about that! 1989 is the best TS album, obviously). Megan loves any and all animals but dogs the most. She is a teacher and has taught all over the world! So that means that she obviously does a TON of traveling (sounds like I’ve found a new travel buddy?!) and she runs an instagram account that you need to follow immediately called: @seek.do.love Go follow her now!!!

A little spin for Megan…
A little twirl for Jare. haha

Megan and Jared were kind enough to let me crash with them for the entire weekend and show me around their favorite spots in Charleston/Mt. Pleasant! We ate all the good food (obviously snuck pimento cheese into nearly every meal!) and drank so many good beers!
