This Great Marsh wedding was a DREAM to shoot. Not only was it special because it was my cousin’s wedding, it rained and it was still one of the most magical days I’ve ever seen. We watched the weather radar all morning and it came down to having to move the ceremony arch into the reception space. Alyssa and her team from The Posey Detail created an incredibly romantic setting and the best “plan B” indoor ceremony that I’ve ever seen. Seeing my “little cousin” Megan as a bride and her family dressed to the nines and being there to capture it all – such an honor.
Megan shared first looks with her bridesmaids, Dad, and Ryan – reactions galore. So many happy tears and emotions! We took their portraits on the porch and ventured (with our clear umbrella) into the lawn for some photos before the ceremony arch got moved indoors. Rain isn’t what people hope for – but I honestly think it added some special magic to Megan and Ryan’s wedding. The ceremony was heartfelt and cozy – my uncle married Megan and Ryan and afterwards we were able to step outside for more portraits on the tree lined drive and then ended our portrait hour with epic “Outlander” inspired photos by the rocks and tree area…. which Megan and I were both so excited for!! We texted about getting Outlander pics the months leading up to the wedding and I’m so glad we were able to make those epic portraits happen – who needs golden hour – ha!
The rest of the evening, guests enjoyed dinner from Serendipity Catering and cake and sweets from Signature Sweets by Amanda. First dances and speeches took place in the barn and dancing and hanging out happened outside on the porch… as it POURED outside. BUT just as we were about to cancel the sparkler exit – the rain stopped! Okay rain – thank you!
