Kim and Haley’s Virginia Beach engagement session blog post is here! I’ve known Kim for years, she and my youngest sister, Morgan, went to school together and both attended Virginia Tech but it had been years since I’ve seen her! We finally reconnected a few weeks ago when I drove down to Virginia Beach to capture engagement photos with her and her fiancé, Haley… and their dog, Moose, obviously. We drove to First Landing State Park and practically had the beach to ourselves except for a few scattered people – which is always perfect when taking photos and not wanting a million bystanders getting into your shot! Hanging out with Kim and Haley was so much fun that we decided to grab crab legs at a local VB restaurant after the shoot. Definitely a good choice. I’ll let Kim tell you how they met and how Haley proposed – keep reading!
“We were both home from college in Northern Virginia for summer (before going into my senior year at Tech and before Haley’s sophomore year at ODU). As soon as we met, we both knew it was something special. What was even better was how surprised we were that our paths hadn’t crossed sooner.. We learned that families lived just 20 minutes from each other, and we also realized that we spent two years playing varsity high school basketball against each other—Freedom vs Loudoun County, the biggest rivalry in the area for girls basketball. We spent 9 months doing long distance while we were both in college. Following my graduation from Va Tech, I moved to Virginia Beach to start my career while Haley finished up her last two years of college at ODU—and the rest is history!
