ALYSSA & JOEL | GEORGETOWN ENGAGEMENT SESSIONIt’s been a WHILE since I’ve shot a Georgetown engagement session – it was good to be back!!! Y’all know I’m obsessed with ivy, boxwoods, stone, brick… well, hello, Georgetown is full of it! Alyssa and Joel were so easy to photograph, because I’ve photographed them before! Alyssa was a bridesmaid in her twin sister’s wedding last summer and her childhood friend’s wedding back in June in Bethany Beach! Now it’s her turn!!! She found her Prince Charming… quite literally. What I didn’t know was that Joel came to the US from New Zealand several years ago while he was performing as Prince Charming on ice! WHAT! He toured around the world on ice and eventually after a few years, “retired” and started his won business. But Alyssa and Joel didn’t meet on the ice, they met a few years ago through mutual friends and their first date was a baseball game!
When Joel proposed he told Alyssa they were going into DC to see the Nutcracker but first he thought it would be cool to walk around the monuments. Alyssa said all the signs were there… he was acting weird and he didn’t really eat lunch… but she didn’t realize it until afterwards! They walked up to the Lincoln and he knelt down on one knee and completely surprised her and she said, “so I guess we’re not going to the Nutcracker?!?!” – after he proposed they went to a restaurant and met up with Alyssa’s family and some close friends!

Ella was confused on what was happening…
Love her laughter!!!
THIS DOOR, OMG.

I love this oneeee!
We’re getting to my fave from this whole shoot! We walked down the street and I saw this little staircase and fell. in. love. with. it!

One of my new favorite detail shots!
FAVE!
Bringin’ a little swag to the shoot. (Sorry I just said swag… who am I?)
Funnily enough… I shot this ring shot on Alyssa’s dress while she sat… I wanted a light surface so I was like… hey, can you come sit over here for a second?! hahahaha!
Did NOT know the Georgetown Canal was empty for construction and completely overgrown with weeds… still looked cool in photos!
Looking at this picture… one would not know there were a million screaming kids playing in a fountain just a hop away while we were taking engagement pics…
