KARI & PAT | WASHINGTON DC WEDDING

Washington DC weddingKARI & PAT | WASHINGTON DC WEDDING

Kari and Pat’s Washington DC wedding was more than just one day – it was the whole weekend! The bride end groom tied the knot on Friday afternoon at the DC War Memorial among close family and friends with a short ceremony done by a friend which had everyone laughing because he owns a comedy club in the city… so you can imagine. After some quick words, they kissed and then clinked glasses of champagne with their friends before heading to dinner with everyone.

I ended up spending the night at the hotel where Kari and Pat were getting ready which made it SO nice for the next day! I shot all of Kari’s details in my room which was clean as opposed to bridesmaid hair/makeup zone!!! haha. When Kari hired me she told me she wanted photos all around DC! At first I was like… 3 locations, are you crazy? BUT with no ceremony to rush back to, we had 3 hours of time! You guys aren’t even going to believe the uber that we happened to get in on the way to the first look… (LOL keep scrolling! I added it in here! haha).

First stop in our “tour of DC” for portraits was the Library of Congress for the first look! After that we walked across the street to the Capitol and then met up with the wedding party and family for some “monumental” photos before heading back to the Dockmaster’s Building at the Wharf for cocktail hour and reception! We were also #blessed with really nice Fall weather so it made the whole experience that much better! (Sunday was FREEZING and windy… we really lucked out!)

Kari and Pat – I’m pretty sure I can’t narrow down a FAVORITE image. Shooting around all of these iconic DC monuments and architecture was such a blast… I’m a sucker for some of these classic black and white images for sure! Congrats to the newlyweds!

It’s just so… monumental…. am I right?Washington DC wedding LOVE! Back to the Wharf for the reception! When Pat proposed, he carved “Marry Me” into a pumpkin, so they incorporated that photos and a KP pumpkin! Kind of in love with this reception shot with the sunset pouring in! Kari and Pat are huge pet people so their signature drinks were named after their pets! Also, instead of favors, they donated money to the humane society where they got their dog and cat! How cute!
LOVE this shot of Kari! Check out the dessert table!! Had to throw in some Georgetown Cupcakes! DC classic! That’s a wrap! Congrats to the newlyweds!
