Helen and Kyle’s President Lincoln’s Cottage DC wedding kicked off my 2019 wedding season! May 4th was a perfect day! The rain held off til the very end – which was such a blessing! The day started with Helen and the girls getting ready at Kimpton’s Mason and Rook hotel while the boys got ready at Helen and Kyle’s apartment. I dove right into details where I quickly fell in love with the beautiful custom Cherry Blossom invitation suite designed by Wide Eyes Paper Co! It even included two small cyclists in the corner as a nod to their love of cycling! The cycling details continued… but we’ll get there!
After Helen was finished getting dressed, we headed to Meridian Hill Park for First Look portraits which is a special spot for Helen and Kyle because they live nearby and often visit the park! We practically had the park to ourselves, which in DC, is super rare! Maybe the rain clouds scared people away! We captured some gorgeous portraits around the park – interrupted by a random skateboarder at one point – then left for President Lincoln’s Cottage where we finished up some portraits and met the wedding party! After wedding party and family portraits, everyone got ready for the Ketubah signing quickly followed by the ceremony outside on the lawn. The best part: Kyle riding down the aisle on his bike and surprising everyone!
The tented reception was set up like a spring dream! I loved the hanging lanterns hung all around the ceiling and the bright flowers and purple napkins that tied the theme together! Elements of cycling included their cake topper and bike bottle opener favors. After dances and heartfelt speeches, it was time for the hora – which was a blast! The Bachelor Boys band kept the crowd entertained before the epic exit, with a nod to Star Wars, the light saber exit!!!
How amazing is this custom invite by Wide Eye Paper co?! Obsessed. Donaflora did such an amazing job on the wedding flowers!!!!It’s pretty impossible to find Meridian Hill Park empty… like HELLO – this is EPIC! Obsessed with this! So timeless and beautiful! How cute is this! I loved everyone waiving to the boys in the top window!!Kyle LOVED cycling so he surprised the crowd by riding down the aisle on his bike!! Ha!
